An apparently slight illness of "cold" is in reality a great suffering for such persons, and is entitled to our serious consideration. Moreover, these men's history shows that they have already consulted various physicians, and with little or no avail. In fact, these cases are not easy to cure. To soothe and relieve a patient from catarrhal symptoms for the time, is quite a different thing from preventing the occurrence of fresh attacks. The patients seek for lasting cures, and it is this that we should strive to secure for them. But, unfortunately, sufficient importance does not appear to have been attached to this subject in the test books, and many young practitioners at least pay no attention
